Headset toggle support on 5320 phones

Mitel offers support for a configured headset toggle button on the 5320, but that feature is not yet supported by Broadview. Can support for that feature be added as that would be very convenient.
Thanks

Hi, is there any update with this? This is a needed feature.
Broadview advertises that the phone has "a dedicated headset jack", yet it's not usable?

Hi Jackson, thanks for following up. The feature is still on the agenda but no release date has been set. The handset does work, it has to be lifted off the cradle. There are devices that “lift” the handset (here are a few examples from Amazon) but I just take mine off and set it on the desk. Hope that helps in the meantime until the feature is released.

It seems this feature has been on the agenda for at least 3 years. It would seem that just programming a Headset Activation Button (feature 317 on a Mitel 5000 or 3300) Could have been done already.
    Are we any closer?

This isn't the only feature that's been in the works for years.

Please get this added. Had I known all of the little things that still don't work with Broadview, I would not have selected them. This is a basic feature.

We wouldn't have either.  There are other basic functions that aren't in Broadview.

I'm glad to see this post...we haven't made a final decision yet, and it's a huge red flag on our review.  If Broadview/Windstream won't listen to their current customers, maybe if they realize they're going to lose potential customers they'll get it done...

Do you want to be able to change a ring tone?  US Based Tech Support?  Ignore call button?  Ticket system that can handle images?  Selective call routing tenant wide?  Phones that arrive plug and play most of the time?  Accurate voicemail transcriptions?  Company wide address book?  Unplugged phones show as unavailable?  $18.95 monthly bill fee for an electronic bill?  $2 per extra DID?

In the last 18 months my experience has been a resounding no to all of the above features.  So if you don't need features like the above, then you will be fine.

Monitor your connectivity from all your sites to some of the BVN IP's 216.214.57.20.  If there are any network issues between you and them, BVN will always point the finger at your ISP (unless you buy a circuit from BVN).

I'm still pretty satisfied, all things considering, but disappointed by the omissions that are on other phone systems and have been for years. Pricing is pretty aggressive, and you DO get a lot of bang for the buck.

I'm hoping that with the acquisition by Windstream, there's an infusion or R&D resources that start getting applied. I do hear rumors of cool things in the works (Single sign on/multi factor authentication authentication and SMS messages to name a few),but not sure when/if they will pan out.

You can negotiate with your sales rep on pricing, I found, which is a plus.

The base price we pay is not bad.  We ran our own system previously, so we were used to supporting it ourselves and getting sick of it.  Broadview has taken me just as long if not longer to support than our old one, at about 2-3x cost and a loss of what we considered basic phone system functions that have been around in most phone systems for a decade.

That being said, I looked at other systems that have less features than Broadview but had the basics covered.

I agree that it's time for Windstream to take charge - and road map the implementation of the dozen or so missing features that every basic PBX has had for years!

Like changing a ring tone?  Securing access to call recordings with more than an extension number and a pin?

Please add this feature. It is a basic feature
  • Is there any update on this feature?
  • Hi kmorris,

Good news! The toggle feature is currently in the first stages of testing and should be available early 2019. We will post an announcement as soon as it becomes available.
  • Hello

It is early 2019 just wondering how the testing is going? My co workers could really use this feature. Any idea on release date?

    Josh
  • Is this feature ready yet?
  • Hi Everyone,

The Mitel 5300 series headset/handset toggle is part of release v9.1 and is due to roll to production starting in mid-September running through early November. Look for a MyOfficeSuite alert when your server has been upgraded to the latest release of OfficeSuite software.
