MyOfficeSuite: How do I change the music on hold?

You can use the Music on Hold widget to set up what music callers will hear while on hold. You can listen to and select from a wide range of music, including holiday instrumentals. And now, you can also upload custom Music on Hold files in mp3 or wav format. The file should be no more than 4-5 minutes in length.

Click on the “Upload” button in the Music on Hold widget and then select which music callers hear when on hold. After making your selection, click the Play button to hear the music. Click Save after making your music selection.

Hi Chris, yes this is a free feature. Change it as often as you like. If you are looking for a good voice over company, we have used voices.com and internetjock.com. These are great solutions to getting a really professional recording!

I have some questions about how the MOH Widget handles the playback of the custom audio file:

-Once the custom on hold program (mp3) is uploaded and active, what happens each time a caller is put on hold?

-Does the program audio "stream" so that a variety of content can be heard or does it start at the beginning every time the hold feature is used?

-In other words; Are callers hearing the same thing over and over again therefore making it more of an annoying feature?

Hi John, thank you for your question. Each time a person is put on hold they hear the beginning of the hold music. The current system does not constantly loop to have the user on hold hear a different portion of the music when they are placed on hold. I will mark this as an idea and forward it to our development team. Thank you.

I am being told by support that only Inbound calls will hear Hold Music, any outbound calls, when placed on hold DO NOT.  Can you confirm this?

Hi Mike, that is correct. Outbound calls placed on hold will not hear the Hold Music.

Thanks for the quick reply Karen, but I can't be the only one that believes that just doesn't make any sense??  The "dead-air" or sometimes static the callers hear, is terrible.  Can't something be done about this??

Hi Mike. There are some situations when having hold music for outbound calls could be problematic. One example that comes to mind would be for calls made into a conference bridge. If someone on the call placed the call on hold, music would play which would be very disruptive to the group. I will forward your suggestion to our development team for their input.

You should not be hearing static on the call when it is on hold. I suggest you open a ticket in the MyOfficeSuite portal or contact support at 1800BROADVIEW for assistance. Thank you.

Have there been any updates to allow randomized play of on hold music so people do not always hear the same music?

Being able to upload custom music for on hold is good... but once uploaded, how can it be managed?
In my case, I've uploaded a file for MOH, and used it for a while. It was a timely sensitive, and I'll never want to use it again. I'd now like to delete it from my MOH choices.
How can I manage the MOH files that I have uploaded (other than simply choosing it for my active MOH)?
  • Hi Peter,

Currently, you can upload MOH and select which file you would like to play. Each selection is separate and there is no "shuffle" feature. You can continue to change the music by uploading a different file. There is no option to delete or shuffle, but you can certainly add that request to our Idea page for consideration by our Development team.
